No, I don’t think there is anything wrong with copying other people’s designs. Sharpies themselves will be copies of something else.
I like these Skerples because they are honest copies.
It’s only wrong to copy Logos or trademarks when it is deceptive and the possibly wronged party would be the purchaser. Besides, with a proper justice system you could stop someone representing their goods as yours without special trademark laws – you could even make money off them.
Apple sued Microsoft for copying their rubbish bin… but I had a rubbish bin long before apple put one on their desktop. 🙂
