The Rock of Divine Revelation.

jesus-christ
“Oh Fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!”

As a King James AV believer it amazes me how many Christians don’t believe we have the perfect preserved and inspired word of God today.
The vast majority of ‘educated’ Christians have bought into all the rationalism and textual criticism of Infidels whom teach that the Bible is not a supernatural book, and that it suffers from the same human failings as every other ancient text and ought to be treated the same way.
My Theistic belief is looked upon as Batshit crazy.
Yet these Christians whom have abandoned faith in the inerrancy of the word of God turn instead to modern scholarship for their final authority… which is a patently unchristian/ non-theistic basis of faith. They are Deists.

This is a reversal of the Biblical doctrine of ‘Let God be true but every man a liar’.
‘Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy Paths”.
“The words of the Lord are pure words. As silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Thou shalt keep them O Lord. Thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever.”

We now have the situation where the veracity of verses like when Christ said “Let he who is without sin caste the first stone” are disputed upon the most flimsy of grounds and the most poor evaluation of the so-called evidence.
All it takes is for a single piece of evidence to be dated by some ‘expert’ as ‘the earliest’ and for it to not contain the said verse, and that is enough to undermine the faith of millions as to its integrity!

sand-house
The foolish man builds his house upon the vain sands of Human rationalism and ‘schollarship’.

These Christians whom have abandoned the faith in God’s supernatural preservation of the scriptures are actually endorsing the Atheist evaluation of the bible, ie that it cant be trusted!
They also tend to be Anti-super naturalism/ pro naturalism types whom also embrace things like the theory of evolution, and say stories like Noah’s flood and Balaam’s talking ass are merely fables.
Again they side with atheistic Rationalism against faith in the scriptures.
This Naturalism insulates them from the derision of their School peers which is the burden of those of us whom maintain faith in the supernatural.
This infidelity is what passes as a ‘Bold stand for Christ’
lighthouse
“Thy word is Truth… It is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my Path… I will fear no Evil”

I ask how they can have boldness in preaching the Gospel when they themselves do not have faith in the reliability of the Bible in which their gospel is found?
For me faith in the Revelation of God as the Rock on which my faith is built and is absolutely not negotiable.
It was the realization that the Bible was true which converted me to Christianity in the first place 25 years ago, and I have walked with Christ ever since with my eyes open… ie facing every challenge which claimed to be able to prove my bible was full of errors, yet Gods word has weathered that storm and every time an infidels argument has been defeated, my faith has grown stronger.
The King James Bible is my Rock.
I preach with full assurance from a conviction of it’s absolute trustworthyness.
I will go to my grave believing Jesus has saved me from my sins because it is written in those blessed pages… not because of the wisdom of men.

Portions of 1Corinthians1+2

1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;….
10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Chapter 2
1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

  1. I ask how they can have boldness in preaching the Gospel when they themselves do not have faith in the reliability of the Bible in which their gospel is found?

We can have faith in the Good News, Tim, because it is corroborated by four independent accounts. Also, I agree with Einstein.

No one can read the Gospels without feeling the actual presence of Jesus. His personality pulsates in every word. No myth is filled with such life. How different, for instance, is the impression which we receive from an account of legendary heroes of antiquity like Theseus. Theseus and other heroes of his type lack the authentic vitality of Jesus.

Whereas, I simply don’t find (e.g.) Leviticus intensely compelling at all.

  2. Oh so your ‘feelings’ are the yardstick by which we are to Judge the Bible Richard?
    I think not.
You are fundamentally a subjectivist…. someone who mistakes their own opinion for objective truth… foolishly thinking reality must conform to your sensibilities to be true.

  3. Oh so your ‘feelings’ are the yardstick by which we are to Judge the Bible Richard?
    I think not.

Did you ask me by what yardstick we are to judge the Bible, Tim? No, you did not. You asked, instead, how errantists

can have boldness in preaching the Gospel when they themselves do not have faith in the reliability of the Bible in which their gospel is found?

I told you already. The Good News is *found* in the Bible, but is not *founded* on the Bible. It is founded on Jesus.

By the way, Tim. By what yardstick do you judge the Bible? (By what yardstick do you judge the KJV? By what yardstick do you judge other, more accurate, translations of the early manuscripts?)

  4. Biblical Authority and the Book of Genesis

If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? (John 3:12)

Think about this verse very carefully, as I apply it in a particular way. If you can’t trust the Bible when it talks about geology, biology, and astronomy, then how can you trust the Bible when it talks about morality and salvation? The issues of morality and salvation are dependent upon the history in the Bible being true. God does not separate morality and salvation from geology, biology, and astronomy. However, it’s popular today for liberal scholars to claim that the Bible doesn’t speak about science.

Now if we can’t believe the Bible when it talks about earthly things—the rocks, the trees, and the animals and plants, then how can we believe the heavenly things (i.e., salvation) that are so important?

All of us, myself included, have been what I call evolutionized. You might say that you don’t believe in evolution; bear with me….. read on

  5. from facebook…

Robin Boom says…. Ken Ham claims the Bible is the ‘Infallible Word of God’ Thats his problem. He starts from a falsifiable assumption. Because our bibles are a single book, we assume a single authorship like most other books. Who wrote Genesis? It wasn;t Peter or Paul or someone we know as a historical figure. Why assume it is the ‘Infallible Word of God’ Until Ken Ham understands the difference between ‘infallibility’ and ‘inspiration’ he and his Young Earth Creationist ilk will be making ridiculous claims which any casual observer can see to be fallacious. The universe and life are obviously designed by an intelligent Creator, but not within Ham’s narrow paradigm which only views science through his narrow YEC lens. God is much more grander than the Genesis 1 paradigm.

Jesus thought scripture was rubbish so He didn’t bother to quote it?

Paul just wasted his time writing letters? He was joking when he said all scripture is profitable……?

Tim Wikiriwhi I share your problem. Richard Goode you are wrong ? but I wont hold it against you.

Robin Boom says…. Genesis 1 is a poetic Hebrew narrative where God is the ancient ‘Elohim’, whereas chapter 2 and 3 have God as the Jewish Yahweh, a post Moses word. It is a melding of ancient oral traditions, but to claim it as ‘infallible’ or ‘inerrant’ and that all of must take it all word for word literally is a big ask when the evidence points to a universe which is billions of years old and we are one tiny dot, but of exquisite beauty and compexity. Here in NZ there is huge evidence of a much older planet than 6000 years and no evidence at all of a global flood about 4500 years ago, but quite the reverse. Smell Gods roses. They are awesome.

Tim Wikiriwhi says…. Genesis is historic fact Robin.
Adam and Eve were truly made by God and fell into sin, and are the ancestors of us all.
    Noahs flood happened.
    Noah was a real person.
Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob… all true.
Even though The exodus was aprox 1500BC Jesus still told the jews to believe the scriptures… today the New Testament is 2000 years old and is to be believed because of the same trustworthiness of God .

You Bible doubters are the ones who need to evaluate *where you found your faith*…. you treat scripture like the Rationalist infidels do… like it is untrustworthy…. well I will put my eternal soul in trusting the scriptures rather than the rationalisms of unbelievers and those of little faith.
*I’m a Bible believer* and when I preach Christ I tell sinners they can trust the Bible message.

Robin Boom says…. Who wrote Genesis Tim? It was collated after the claimed events. Thousands of years after. It is the oral tradition of the Hebrews. I am a textual critic and although there are God ‘truths’ found within the texts, the texts at face value are not literally and scientifically correct. The idea of inerrancy and infallibility of the scriptures is only a modern phenomenon. Only Jesus deserves the title of ‘Word of God’. I would imagine that Paul, Luke and John etc would have been horrified to think people in the future would consider their writings to one day be thought as ‘inerrant’ or ‘infallible’. Only Jesus is the Divine Logos of John’s gospel. Many Christians today are in a relationship with a book, rather than the divine logos. They commit Biblical idolatry, idolising the bible which warns them ‘the letter killeth, but the Spirit gives life’. We need a relationship with the Holy Spirit and He will reveal to us what the Truth is. As for the Bible, the Bible ‘contains’ the Word of God, but it is not the ‘Infallible’ or ‘Inerrant’ Word of God. It contains mistakes, contradictions, and some serious theological problems – Old Testament in particular, painting God in a horrible light which He is not.

    Who wrote Genesis?
    *God!*
    Do you understand that?
No…. you argue that it is just like every other mythical text.

Where do you get your facts about ‘Jesus being ‘the word of God’ ?
There is only *one source* for that truth and it is the scriptures… so *You* must rely on the trustworthiness of the scriptures simply to make that claim…. so *you* are caught in your own snare… If you cant trust the scriptures… you cant make that claim… nor expect me to believe it.
You are appealing to the authority of scripture.

And all your Blar Blar about ‘Oral tradition’… “thousands of years after the fact”…. Non-scientific…. etc what is that stuff?
    I will tell you.
*Its atheist Rationalist bull*… It’s not what Jesus taught, or St Paul…. *IT IS MODERN HERESY* … Bible belief is the doctrines of Christ…. and the Prophets…. and they expressly warned against ‘Teachers’ who preach the rudiments of this world and the traditions of men rather than Bible believing faith.
Without the Bible being trustworthy all you are left with is *Priestcraft*… the Evil rationalist ‘scholarship’ of Bible haters… who hate the idea of God’s judgement… like Noahs flood… like the doctrine of hell…. and that the bible insists a person believe in miracles …. how embarrassing… in a materialist society!

I dont expect to be able to sway you from the toxic Bible doubt you have imbibed.
There is nothing in Genesis that is contrary to true science and that is why virtually all the Founders of the branches of Science were Theists…. Christians.

Satan is the one who teaches people to deny the truthfulness of the Scriptures… the Father of lies.

“He said to them, “How unwise and slow you are to believe in your hearts all that the prophets have spoken!”
    The Resurrected Christ Luke 24

The Doctrine of The authority, inspiration, preservation, of Gods word starts in the very beginning of Genesis and goes through to the last verses of Revelation.
It is absolutely dishonest for Christians to claim otherwise and to preach instead the doctrines of evolutionary anthropology which say religion is Man made myth and tradition….

It is the fact that the Bible is trustworthy and available that condemns sinners and unbelief.
This is a greater condemnation than conscience alone (The condemnation that is upon those who live in utter darkness without the light of scripture.. eg pre-European Maori).
When Our infidel family, friends and neighbors stand before the judgement seat they will not be able to escape via your rationalist sophistry Robin, and Richard.
God will Judge them because they had the Bible yet chose to disbelieve.
They favoured the lies of Satans false teachers.

It is also an interesting lession in psychology to watch Rebellious men/ sinners squirm at the notion that God expects them to accept the Bible as Authoritative and that the ought to love it … wear it as a badge upon their chests… obey it and preach it to other Rebellious sinners.
You are ashamed of the Bible…. Yet I feel sorry for you because you have had false teachers mishandling the scriptures and filling your heads with lies.
By God’s grace he led me to the greatest preacher and teacher of his word in this country… Dr Denis Spackman… and from this Man of God I learned the truth… and now he has passed over the other side, and it is now my God appointed duty to carry on the preaching of the truthfulness of the Bible.
*You dont have Spackman*… and I am a poor substitute… yet I will do my best.

All of us, myself included, have been what I call evolutionized. You might say that you don’t believe in evolution; bear with me.

When we hear the word evolution, it can mean many different things to many different people. We have to define what we mean by it. Evolution, in an ultimate sense, is more than a mechanism. It’s a whole way of thinking, a philosophy of life that teaches that man, by himself, independent of God, determines truth. It’s very important to understand that. Again, I believe we’ve all been evolutionized. Let me explain why.

We all go back to one man, Adam. We sin like Adam; Paul makes that very clear in Romans 5, for instance. As a result, all of us are going to have the same propensity that Adam had. We would rather listen to the words of fallible man than the Word of God. That’s the bottom line. That was Adam’s sin, wasn’t it?

Now we all have that nature. This leads us to be so easily influenced by the fallible words of sinful men, who don’t know everything, who weren’t there, instead of listening to the Word of the infallible God, who knows everything, who’s always been there.

Fallible men are trying to change the infallible Word of God. What I have come to recognize more and more is that if the Bible is a revelation from God to us, and if God has revealed the truth about the entire universe to enable us to understand who we are, what’s happened, why we’re here . . . then everything that He has revealed in His Word has to be foundational to all our thinking in every area.

The Bible Must Be Our Foundation….

  6. It’s common for professing Christians to struggle with some of the more ‘unbelievable’ things in Scripture. Sometimes they reject key teachings and create a religion of their own making, barely recognizable as Christianity. One of the major reasons people end up walking away from the faith or become hesitant about sharing their faith is that they don’t accept the Bible’s claims. How can they persuade anyone to believe the Bible when they aren’t convinced themselves?
