Dominoes

Colorado, Washington … the world.

A “baggy half empty” blogger says

I don’t think there has been a large enough cultural shift yet when even California couldn’t bring itself to decriminalise the drug.

… in our lifetimes we’ve seen them come & go.

For example Holland has starting tightening up cannabis liberalisation to be less tolerant.

Also the UK decriminalised cannabis for a few years under new Labour only to reverse it again.

Not even the so-called “cool” liberals like Obama are supporting it.

This “baggy half full” blogger has a different take on Tuesday’s vote to legalise cannabis in Colorado and Washington. I think Tuesday’s vote was the tipping point in the War on Drugs™. The tide has finally turned. In the next few election cycles, many more states of the U.S., and many countries around the world, will fall like dominoes to common sense and justice. Victory will be ours, and it will be swift.

There will be setbacks, but we’re better than the crybaby routine.

On April 2nd 1780, British Lieutenant General Sir Henry Clinton led an overwhelming force as it lay siege to the city of Charleston, South Carolina. The ensuing violence lasted 40 days. When it was over, 5,200 Continental troops had been captured, 92 were killed, and 148 were wounded. The city was lost. It would go down in history as the worst U.S. defeat of the Revolutionary War.

As news of the loss spread, Americans complained that war was hard, there was no way to win, and that Liberty just wasn’t worth the hassle. So, they surrendered and we remain English to this day.

Oh wait … that’s not what happened, is it.

No. They licked their wounds, put on their big boy pants, and took it to the Brits with such fury that, a couple of years later, the enemy signed the Treaty of Paris.

There will be setbacks … only this afternoon, Dakta Green (New Zealand’s answer to Marc Emery) was searched (yet again) by the Prohibition Implementing Goons. (“I write this as a Police officer searches my desk around me. WTF … nothing found…Police leave…”)

There will be setbacks … but legal cannabis as the norm across the globe has always been a matter of when, not if. Now it’s a matter of soon.

There will be setbacks …

You want to give up? Fine. The rest of us will carry on without you.

If you’re tough enough to keep going, cut the crybaby act and saddle up.  We have work to do.

More Freedom, More Justice, Less Tyranny, Less Oppression ought to make everybody happy even those of you whom dont enjoy Cannabis!
Of course we must wait and see how Obama’s Federal tyranny will react to this State Rebellion.
Recently Libertarian party Presidental Candidate Gary Johnson correctly identified the pretexts which underpin the War on drugs as an important part of the Tyranical power structure of Big Brother, The Government uses it as a ruse to build up a Billion dollar Serveillence Network… and heavily armed enforcement troops… and building prisons.
They tell the sheeple its to keep them safe… from the Baddies…
They dont wat the War to end… that’s for sure.

JAIL BREAK!
The battle for justice goes on, yet Today’s News is something great We Libertarians can celebrate.

Amputee gets Home D

(Leaves leg with ankle bracelet at home when he wants to go out.)

Medicinal marijuana proponent caught in sting

A prominent proponent of medicinal marijuana has been sentenced to 12 months’ home detention after being caught in an undercover police sting.

William Duffield McKee, 58, of Levin, was found guilty at a jury trial of four charges of selling cannabis and one of cultivation, and was today sentenced in the Palmerston North District Court.

McKee hosted the GreenCross website, which promoted the use of cannabis to prevent medical ailments.

He was targeted in Operation Relief between February 2010 and May last year – four times selling small amounts of cannabis and related material to an undercover police officer.

When police searched his house on July 8 last year they found 66 cannabis plants in various stages of growth.

Judge Barbara Morris today gave McKee credit for saying he would no longer push for political change about medicinal cannabis by selling the drug.

“You now accept that the change you seek must be done within the law and by way of submission,” she told him.

“You were not driven by commercial gain and to create a luxurious lifestyle.”

McKee’s right leg was amputated five years after he was the victim of a hit and run shortly before his 21st birthday.

A number of supporters watched from the court’s public gallery, and many held placards and handed out pamphlets outside the court.

Operation Relief?! (I thought I had a sick sense of humour, but I can’t top that!)

The “The War on Drugs™ is a war on the medically sick, waged by the morally sick. It must end.

MASS PROTEST- Government Failure!

36 YEARS OUT OF DATE! – It has been 36 years since the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 was first enacted, it needs to be overhauled and replaced; The Act has been amended on numerous occasions and is complex and difficult to understand and navigate. The Act’s framework is based on the recommendations of the 1973 report of the Blake-Palmer Committee and largely reflects the drug policies and issues of that era. There is concern that the Act is not well aligned with New Zealand’s National Drug Policy and does not pr
ovide a coherent and effective legislative framework for responding to the use of psychoactive drugs.

LAW COMMISSION REPORT – In 2010 The Law Commission issued its report, Controlling and Regulating Drugs – A Review of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 (NZLC R122, 2011). Among the key proposals contained in the report are:

• Legalising cannabis for medicinal use.

• A mandatory cautioning scheme for all personal possession and use offences that come to the attention of the police, removing minor drug offenders from the criminal justice system and providing greater opportunities for those in need of treatment to access it.

• A full scale review of the current drug classification system which is used to determine restrictiveness of controls and severity of penalties, addressing existing inconsistencies and focusing solely on assessing a drug’s risk of harm, including social harm.

GOVERMENT FAILURE! – Our government has failed to act urgently on some of the key proposals and as a result, people who use cannabis for medicinal purposes are being arrested, charged, convicted and even sent to prison!

Billy Mckee is our latest victim, he is an amputee and the director for GreenCross (a support group for people who use cannabis medicinally) he is facing one charge of cultivating cannabis and four charges of selling small quantities of cannabis to an undercover policeman who entrapped him by posing as someone suffering from severe migraines.
Billy is being sentenced at 9.00am Tuesday the 30th October at Palmerston North High Court and could get up to 8 years in jail for this act of compassion, this is clearly not justice.

MASS PROTEST! – We are arriving at Palmerston North High Court on Monday the 29th October by 4:00 pm for a public display of non-violent civil disobedience at 4:20 pm. We will then picket the courthouse until 8pm at which time our overnight candlelight vigil will begin, devoted to Billy Mckee and in solidarity with all medical cannabis users around NZ and the world. From 9am on the 30th we will picket the courthouse and sit with him in the courtroom until he is sentenced and/or freed.

Billy lost a leg due to a car crash he is confined to a wheelchair and in constant pain from nerve damage to the stump as well as suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. The pain medications he was prescribed by doctors caused intolerable side effects where even driving was unsafe.

Prison terms have also been imposed on other medical cannabis users due to a law that lacks compassion. Please come along to the protest to show your disgust at our government’s lack of compassion and their failure to act upon the law commisions recommendations!

The 4:20 tax plan

Every man and his dog has a tax plan.

Here’s mine.

1. A $20,000 tax-free income threshold
2. A flat rate of 20% on all personal income over $20,000.
3. A flat rate of 20% on all corporate income.
4. GST to be phased out and replaced with an excise tax of 20% on alcohol, tobacco and cannabis.

I call it the 4:20 tax plan. With a name like that, how could it not get the wasted vote?!
