I’m going to start posting a series of classic philosophy papers. Perhaps I’ll begin with Parfit’s Personal Identity. It raises some interesting questions … Does the Christian doctrine of salvation depend on the validity of our notion of personal identity? If we reject personal identity in favour of Relation R, can we still be saved?
(The short answer to your question is no. But personal identity is not what matters …)
