NZ Research finds Synthetic Cannabis Low Risk. The Star Trust.

The STAR Trust today called for an end to the discrimination against consumers of cannabis.

This latest research into the ‘actual’ harms of cannabis – both synthetic and natural – has revealed that cannabis in any form is extremely low risk when compared to other popular drugs in New Zealand.

The STAR Trust announced that the research shows that New Zealand has two categories of licensed legal highs. One group is low risk and the other group is high risk. The high risk group is the most popular and kills 14 New Zealanders’ every day on average.*

“Anyone serious about improving public health outcomes should focus their efforts on the high risk psychoactives and not the low risk psychoactives,” said Grant Hall, General Manager of Legal Highs industry body, The STAR Trust. “Otherwise they could be seen to be supporting big alcohol and tobacco companies,” he believes.

“If someone drinks a bottle of vodka and dies do we ban vodka? No. But, if someone smokes a joint of cannabis and then vomits, it is front page news calling for a full ban because of the ‘harm’ caused. This is discrimination,” asserts Hall.

This latest research conducted by independent researcher Dr. Geoff Noller consolidated all the available data from before and after the passing of the Psychoactive Substances Act in July last year.

Doctor Noller said that since regulation the prevalence of harms has been reducing. “However, both the industry and government could do more to educate the public about the risks, as there still exists significant confusion around the concepts of low risk and safe use,” he said. “The data suggest that reported harms are primarily occurring outside the parameters of product guidelines and legal compliance.”

This research also seems to confirm that claims of ‘deadly chaos’ being created by low risk psychoactives are unfounded and misplaced, according to The STAR Trust.

The STAR Trust funded this independent research because the industry has been listening to concerns raised and wants to be sure that regulation is delivering better public health outcomes.

Cannabis, either natural or synthetic, is not only low risk but it actually shows significant potential as a medicine. The STAR Trust is also funding research into the potential of cannabis as a medicine to treat a wide variety of illnesses.

“The general public is being continuously fed a diet of media driven propaganda against consumers of low-risk psychoactives. This discrimination needs to stop. Until now there has never been a proper analysis of all the evidence around claims of harm,” said Grant Hall.

The Ministry of Health provided public health surveillance data and are considering the findings, which the industry also hopes will allay public concerns around the future of a regulated market for low risk psychoactive products.

Don Brash is in the news again following today’s publication of his autobiography Incredible Luck. True to form, the NZ Herald focuses on the most salacious bits of the book.

In a warts-and-all chapter covering his personal life, Dr Brash tackles head-on his reputation for being a womaniser. But beyond arguing that men have an “extremely powerful biological urge to have sex”, he struggles to explain why he had extra-marital affairs which ultimately took a huge toll on his personal life and plunged him into a deep trough of depression.

Dr Brash writes that adultery was certainly not part of his Christian upbringing, but argues “that the great majority of human males are programmed to find women sexually attractive”.

He realised, of course, that some men were gay. “I have never suspected, even for a single moment, that I might be gay.”

I take it as read(-blooded) that Brash is right. Men do, indeed, have an extremely powerful biological urge to have sex and the great majority of human males are programmed to find women sexually attractive. The question is, what best explains this primal fact? Creationism or evolutionism?

Evolutionism is premised on survival and reproduction. More precisely, evolutionism is premised on survival to reproduce. The DNA of individual organisms that don’t reproduce doesn’t make it into the next or subsequent generations. It’s that simple. Virginity is both anomalous and an evolutionary death-knell. How many of your ancestors were virgins? I bet none.

Evolutionism offers a compelling explanation of the male libido.

We are survival machines—robot vehicles blindly programmed to preserve the selfish molecules known as genes. This is a truth which still fills me with astonishment.

So says Richard Dawkins in his classic The Selfish Gene. And the experience of being male surely bears out the claim. Over the years, my own libido has got me into heaps of trouble, including relationships with women. I even reproduced! But I survived. 🙂 (And I’m older and wiser now, of course.)

It’s not that there aren’t problems with the evolutionist account. Of course, there are, and there’s one big problem in particular, viz., the origin of sex itself. The first forms of life (according to the theory of evolution) were single-celled organisms or simple multi-celled organisms that reproduced by a process of asexual reproduction called budding. It’s a mystery when, why and how the first two such organisms got together and said, “Fuck budding, let’s be fuck buddies.” I expect my evolutionist readers will have some fanciful accounts to share in the comments section below.

So, what’s the best creationist explanation of the male libido? Well, one explanation springs immediately to mind. In Genesis 1, God created mankind in his own image

The Connotation that St Paul ‘invented’ his own Gospel of Christ is a valid question, yet it is important to grasp that though Paul’s Preaching of Christ was a radical departure from what Christ himself had preached, and from what Christ commanded Peter and co to preach, still
St Paul *Did not* Re-invent Jesus.
He Revealed the Mystery of the Cross and preached a new Gospel to the Gentiles *after* the Jews had rejected their Messiah and his *kingdom Gospel*

This video is wrong about Paul not ‘changing fundamental doctrines’…. he did exactly That…. which was what God had saved him and commissioned him to do. He was not saved to simply preach what Christ and Peter had already preached before him.
He was given *Special revelations* concerning our ‘Dispensation of Grace’…. which focus’s on Gentiles being saved by the Cross, where as Christ and Peter had preached ‘Redemption of Israel from Roman oppression and the establishment of the Kingdom of David… in Israel… as promised by God.

Thus The preaching of Jesus and Peter was Nationalistic and Theocratic, whereas St Paul’s gospel was addressed to individuals, and was universal…. open to all… and the fellowship he fathered was a voluntary private society.

Of Course St Pauls message still includes many of the fundamental truths about Jesus being the Son of God, etc, yet it is the differences between what Paul Preached from What Christ preached, which must be appreciated to apprehend the amazing truth that with the conversion of St Paul, God was beginning a completely new dispensation… with a new Gospel message.

Paul preached Salvation without baptism…. Jesus commanded Peter to preach Baptism as necessary for salvation…etc etc.

I even own a book called ‘The Rival philosophies of Jesus and St Paul’, By Ignatius Singer in which he correctly detects vast discrepancies between the doctrines of Jesus and Paul…. yet not appreciating why these differences are there, not seeing any way to reconcile them as a unity… he assumes he must make a radical judgement…. and decides to call St Paul a Heretic and a False Teacher!
He deludes himself that by demonising st Paul… he is being faithful to Christ.

This is truly sad because having discovered these apparent ‘contradictions’, Ignatius was on the verge of uncovering one of the most important doctrines necessary to understand the scriptures… the Need to ‘Rightly Divide the word of Truth’.

Once the dispensational nature of the scriptures is apprehended, all these differences take on Great Power and importance, and the Bible unfolds before your eyes.
Doctrines become clear and purposeful.

Flight MH370: Cover-up alleged as black-box detector nears

The Libertarianz Party strives for a future New Zealand in which Nanny State no longer coddles and chastises us at every turn. We envision a New Zealand in which parents exercise authority over their children, and adults are free to do as they please, so long as they respect other people’s freedoms and take full responsibility for the consequences of their own actions. In such a libertarian utopia, there will simply be no need for legislation banning things which have a “moderate potential for harm”. Parents will see to it that their children stay out of harm’s way, adults will take responsibility for their own welfare, and the government will not waste your money on futile efforts to stem the tide of human nature. Ultimately, we would repeal the Misuse of Drugs Act. Meanwhile, the Libertarianz Party has a transitional drugs policy: to legalise all drugs safer than alcohol. This policy would result in the legalisation of a surprisingly large number of substances already scheduled in the Misuse of Drugs Act – and all of them safer to take on a night out than a few drinks.

I’m now with the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party, but still a libertarian. It is my personal view that we should legalise all drugs. Starting with cannabis. Let’s see how cannabis legalisation goes, and take it from there.

If it were up to me, I’d rank all drugs in order of safety, and legalise them in that order, over an extended period of time. That’s my policy. Obviously, most of the current crop of legal highs would be some way down the list.

By legalising drugs in order of safety over a period of time, we can monitor the effects of the policy, and call a halt at any time. If it turns out that we’ve take one step too far, we can always quit while we’re only one step behind.

Sounds like a plan?

So Getting High is not detrimental to faith in God… the expanded consciousness could even be conducive towards a realisation that what passes for ‘society’, and the mundane and trivial fashions, etc is insignificant compared to the Grandeur of the total Human experience.
I know that Getting stoned certainly has resulted in countless hours of contemplation about the meaning of life and given me a deeper appreciation for the Natural wonders which surround me.
