Teachers are fucking sickos – English “education” is shit

Yesterday my youngest son’s English class was given a book to read – White Ute Dreaming by Scot Gardner. My son is 14 and he is in year 10, he showed me and his mother the book and told us that he didn’t expect parents would approve of them reading it. I read enough of the book (the first page and half of the second) to decide that my son is not allowed to read it.

A teacher’s Guide for how to use this book in class is available online. Here’s a few excerpts for the Teacher’s Guide:-

THEME 6.
SEXUALITY – INFIDELITY, FIRST SEX, SEX AND LOVE, PERVING, HOMO SEXUALITY
Wayne is a sexual being and confused about the relationship between love and sex (p4, p130, p209).

p4 “…I wish she’d grab hold of me like when we were at the beach. Mate that was hot. And wet…Pashing with Kez was bliss. There wasn’t much risk of me bursting. That’s why God invented hands…”

Wayne decides not to have sex with Angie (p126).

He wants his “first root [to] be something special”.

Hendo is missing the ‘politeness gene’(p99).

Teachers forcibly exposing children to this shit makes me angry.

** UPDATE ** My son’s class will not have to read this book anymore thanks to the school management. Senior management have said that it’s a totally inappropriate text for students of that age.

[aside: This scripture amuses me. I feel sorry for any Roman Soldier that happened to choose an evangelical Christian to carry his stuff… and then found he had him for two miles. 🙂 ]

This saying needs converting from Imperial – there are no longer Roman soldiers around forcing people to carry their equipment a mile – instead we have bureaucrats forcing compliance work on to everyone.

But what is the conversion factor from Roman Imperial to Modern Bureaucracy ? It seems like seventy times seven. I’m doing what feels like 490km of tax compliance work. How do I “go the extra mile” in this situation and if I manage it then won’t that just mean that all I’ve done is 980km? What good is there in that?

The Sanctity of Life

It’s not wrong to kill people if the killing is justified (this is a necessarily true statement).

Killing people in war is justified, killing people in self defense is justified… even killing people that deserve death is justified. Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, life for life principle is not obsolete.

When considering euthanasia a killing can be justified by mercy – the principle being do to others as you would have them do to you. In a situation where a person wants to die and a person kills them compassionately the killer has not wronged anyone.

Some appeal to the Sanctity of Life to oppose euthanasia but if the Sanctity of Life doctrine were true it would condemn the other justified killings mentioned above.

The Sanctity of Life doctrine is false – it’s a sacred cow that needs killing.

The Treaty of Waitangi – A contract between two masters

The more I think about the Treaty of Waitangi the more morally wrong and irrelevant it seems.

Consider Artical 3 of the Treaty:

Artical 3
For this agreed arrangement therefore concerning the government of the Queen, the Queen of England will protect all the ordinary people of New Zealand and will give them the same rights and duties of citizenship as the people of England.

Compare this with the US Declaration of Independence:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

The Treaty presumes all men are subjects – Maori presumed to be subjects of Maori Chiefs – and everyone became subjects of the Crown at the signing of the Treaty whereas the Declaration of Independence states that all men are equal.

Also the Treaty presumes that the Crown and Maori Chiefs have the authority to grant rights and assign duties to individuals whereas the Declaration of Independence states that men’s rights are “unalienable”.

By claiming to assign rights and duties the Crown shows that it presumes to be master over subjects. And, if the US Declaration of Independence is correct, by assigning rights and duties the Crown puts itself above God.

The Taj Mahal is a mosque and is under Muslim control. At the entry there are different queues – one for “high value” women, one for children, one for “low value” locals and one for “high value” men. When me and the other “high value” men got to the guard who checks the tickets he stood in front of us with his back toward us and wouldn’t let us pass – he allowed many of the Hindu “low value” locals into our lane. It took me a while to figure out what the Muslim guard was doing – it was an act of subjugation – he was insulting us. The barriers look to have been designed with this purpose in mind. The Hindus that the guard let through understood what was going on and they laughed about the situation. At first I felt a little angry toward the Muslim guard but later I just felt sorrow for the Hindus. Sorrow for the Hindus because while they obviously accept NIOF principles (even regarding animals) they are loveless crooks (In northern India every person we met (except one of our guides who was a Christian) tried to swindle us – imagine living like that).

We’d been to the Gandhi Memorial in Delhi the day before – the memorial was in a dense fog, surrounded by crows with eagles circling overhead. Fitting omens I thought (not sure what to make of the squirrels so I won’t mention them). The Indians I met were nothing like Gandhi. The Hindu’s admire his greatness but have no idea about goodness. Poor people were lying in the streets surrounding the memorial – no sign of anyone helping them (the Christian guide we had said the Church was doing something but they were only 2.5% of the population).

Heroin may be deadly but it shouldn’t be illegal

Government lacks the authority to prohibit the selling and usage of drugs and this is the reason why drugs should be legalised including harmful ones.

In political discussions focusing on the harm aspect of drugs takes the discussion from a principled discussion to a pragmatic discussion. Pragmatism is to accept wrong hoping that good may result.

Accepting that government may protect us from harm is to argue in support of nanny-state-ism and to accept that our relationship to government is similar to an adult-child relationship.

Acting beyond legitimate authority is to act unjustly.

It is unjust to punish others for using drugs.
It is unjust to punish others for buying drugs.
It is unjust to punish others for selling drugs.

A question of harm and government’s duty

A common argument for Marijuana being illegal is as follows :-

P1. Government has a duty to protect people from harm.
P2. Marijuana is harmful.
C. Therefore, Government has a duty to protect people from marijuana.

At a Libertarianz conference Dakta Green spoke against this argument’s conclusion – he argued for the legalisation of cannabis. Dakta’s speech was aimed at convincing the audience that P2 was false (i.e. that cannabis was not harmful).

His seat was near mine so after he had finished speaking I asked him if he thought P should be illegal. He was quite insistent that P should be illegal because it was harmful.

Dakta’s argument for criminalising P was the same form :-

P1. Government has a duty to protect people from harm.
P2. Methamphetamine is harmful.
C. Therefore, Government has a duty to protect people from methamphetamine.

According to Dakta’s own reasoning cannabis should be illegal if it is harmful. Dakta was incorrect about cannabis not being harmful. But he was correct that cannabis should not be illegal. The false premise is P1 – i.e. government does not have a duty to protect people from harm.

Consider the following :-

P1. If government has a duty to protect us from harm then government should protect us from alcohol.
P2. Government shouldn’t protect us from alcohol.
C. Therefore, government does not have a duty to protect us from harm.

The belief that Government has a duty to protect people from harm is the basis of Nanny Statism.

The truth about marijuana

Marijuana makes people feel good. Apart from making people feel good marijuana may have some other positive effects – glaucoma remedy, pain relief, cancer cure (yeah right), etc. but overwhelmingly the effect of smoking marijuana is that it makes people stupid and lazy – and I’m not just talking about immediately after smoking it – people that smoke regularly are stupid and lazy on a full time basis.

“Stupid and lazy” might be overstating it for some but a regular dope smoker is certainly less intelligent and less motivated than they would be without it.

The truth about marijuana is that it is predominantly harmful.
