Epiphany. The penny drops for Don Brash…. Welfare is evil, and is destroying lives….and society.

Welfarism is Evil!
Don Brash has been reading….

I congratulate Don for these realizations (see his facebook post Below) …it’s just a pity he’s no longer leader of the National party. (Did I really say that?… hmmm…. no that cant be right!)
My point is that Oh so many leaders seem to ‘conveniently’ have such Epiphanies after they leave office/ positions of influence… where they may have been able to do some good.
No longer pandering to the powers that be, Police chiefs declare the war on drugs to be a failure…. after they leave office, etc.
Politicians get all principled…. after they are no longer soliciting votes.

They come out all Libertarian…. in their farewell address.
Yet still better late than never!

To be fair to Don…. He stood up for many Libertarian truths *while in office*, such as opposition to Waitangi Apartheid while leader of the National party.
He bravely spoke against Cannabis prohibition as Leader of Act.
And of course as a money man… hes always condemned the ‘borrow borrow, spend spend, mentality of the left.
All bold stands in today’s PC Brain dead Socialist lunatic asylum…all these make him a Stand out personality in the history of New Zealand politics.

My question is…. what will Don do with this latest realization?
It really is massive.
Lets hope this is stimulus for New and Greater activism!

I have just finished reading a profoundly disturbing book. I bought it 10 years ago, but have only just read it. It’s called “The Welfare State we’re in”, and was written by James Bartholomew. It is about the effect of the welfare state on the UK. Mr Bartholomew concludes that “the welfare state has been a disaster for Britain… [It] has ruined lives and left people morally and culturally impoverished. It has left many depressed and alienated, too. It has caused some to become criminals – a waste of a life – and others to be the victims of criminals. It has spoiled trust between people and caused millions of patients to suffer and to worry. Tens of thousands have died prematurely. It has reduced the decency and happiness of the British people”.
And perhaps most worrying of all, he concludes that the people most adversely affected by the welfare state are the very people it was designed to help – the poor and those on low incomes.
I’m not going to try to summarise a 360 page book in a Facebook post but to me the book is utterly persuasive. He looks at the way in which healthcare, education, provision for support in old age, benefits to the unemployed, provision of “council housing”, together with the high taxation and slow economic growth which have inevitably accompanied the vast expansion of the welfare state, have made the intended beneficiaries of those policies worse off than had the welfare state never existed.
I have no doubt that this post will attract a number of people keen to denounce the book as written by some hard-right guy who just doesn’t understand how awful society would be without the welfare state. And no doubt there will be those who denounce me for praising the book, assuming I like it only because, in their view, I am a “hard-right” former politician. To those people I say: have the guts, and the integrity, to read the book before denouncing it. It is extremely compelling.
Mr Bartholomew has just written another book, this time called “The Welfare of Nations”, which apparently attempts to answer the question “If the welfare state is so bad, what should we do about it?” That is next on my reading list.

Take a good look at what has happened in Greece.
It is happening all about western Socialist democracies, and the same fate will happen here too… eventually because New Zealand is governed by the same Economic and social lunacy.

The Ever expanding State, along with it’s ever expanding debts, and ever expanding injustices, is a consequence of not setting strict limits to Government spheres of action.

The world economy is in a very precarious state which could collapse at any moment, yet even if it takes 20 more years of Nutty Labour/ National Socialism to bankrupt the nation, do you really want your children, and their children to inherit an economy like the one right now in Greece?

That will be the inevitable legacy our foolish generation will bequeath to posterity.
Worse we will have brain washed them into living in matchboxes, and traveling on Public conveyor belts….

The Economic books of the future putting this Mess of Socialist interventionism and Fiat currencies down to a failure of the free markets….

New Zealand needs a New political party which forthrightly argues for great reductions in Government power, spending, etc.

If we *act now*…. so much less will be the Austerity/ misery involved in making the necessary reforms.

‘NZ criminals shift to bigger guns’.

Underworld figures are now packing machineguns in what has been identified as a “culture” shift toward heavier arming among criminals, an intelligence report warns.

But police say the big guns are mostly for show, and that their use rarely reaches beyond the closed doors of the criminal world.

A summary of the report, which notes the growing frequency and increasing sophistication of weapons featuring particularly among gangsters’ drugs crime activity, has been released under the Official Information Act.

Assistant police commissioner Malcolm Burgess would not comment on the sources of the information.

He said criminals, not the public, were most at risk of encountering gun crime. “They are more likely to use these firearms in situations involving other criminals, rather than against the general population.”

A summary of the July 2014 report, briefing police officers and entitled “Firearms and Organised Crime: Illicit Supply, Possession and Use”, notes a shift in New Zealand criminals’ attitudes to bearing arms.

“It is likely (the event will probably occur in most circumstances) there has been and continues to be an erosion of the traditional culture of firearms non-usage by New Zealand organised crime group members,” it says.

Two different perspectives about Life, Death, Suffering, and Euthanasia have appeared here recently…

Why No Christian Should Support Euthanasia, by Blair Mulholland

and

God’s gift to the terminally ill by Richard Goode.

Most thinking people fall squarely into either of these camps.

I would like to suggest that there is a third way… a middle course.

Having come down from my mountain I’d like to wade in 🙂 … Mine is the lonely path… loved by few… because it appears to these antagonists that I’m too cosy with their enemy… not resolute enough… yet I believe it to be the best course.

I support certain aspects of Blair’s Anti-Euthanasia post to a high degree… yet ultimately I support Richard’s conclusion regarding Opium.

Both are arguing from the premise of ‘the sanctity of human life.

It’s a very interesting subject because it’s one of these issues which if the Christian is not careful, he will find himself supporting harsh and inhumane Laws out of a misguided sense of piety (like the twats who support drug prohibition).
It is ‘one of those’ controversial issues which some Christians insist gives them the right to impose *Un-Libertarian* prohibitions on others…. thus these so-called Christians also tend to insinuate that Real Christians *cant be Libertarians*… that there can be no separation of Church and state.

It is my experience to note that most of the Anti-Euthanasia Religionists do this because they still have not figured out the dispensational distinctions of the Christian living under grace, from the OT Jew living under the Law.
They dont yet grasp the reality that Euthanasia is just like the issue of Smoking Cigarettes…. that a Christian can be ideologically *against Cigarettes* yet also ought to be Ideologically *against a prohibition on cigarettes*… and that it is quite right to speak out against the vise of smoking cigarettes… if they be so moved…. yet to maintain a libertarian respect, and compassion for cigarette smokers and their rights rather than the Legalistic spirit *self righteous persecution and hate*.

Let me speak about what I mean with myself as the example.
As a Christian I do believe in the sanctity of human life, and that it would be insulting to God and a gross lack of faith, for me to ‘Commit suicide’ out of depression… yet I also know that we are not under the Law, and that God is a merciful God.
I do believe that he put things like Alcohol, Opium, etc on the Earth to alleviate pain and I am not so silly as to not be able to distinguish someone wishing to avoid a Ghastly and excruciating death, from someone callously throwing their life away out of spite, or sloth.

Not appreciating these distinctions is a bit like those dullards whom cant distinguish Loving discipline from child abuse (forgive my terseness).

Assisting a terminally ill person to end their own life, or taking your own life rather than facing the torture of a brutal enemy, are not the same things as assisting a Depressed, faithless, Godless, and ungrateful, (yet otherwise healthy) person to harm themselves.

The thing is that I dont think *prohibitive Laws* have anything good to add to this situation for the Obvious reason that a depressed person determined to kill themselves is in no way obliged to obey Human conventions…. which is all a prohibition is… when not underpinned by a personal ethic… and those whom actually have such a personal ethic *dont need any such law*.

Depressed yet otherwise able bodied people don’t need help to kill themselves.
Only the dying fear that the longer they endure, the less capable they become to take their own life in a peaceful way…. And so then may come to rely on their loved ones for assistance.
The people who want such prohibitions simply seek to persecute the caring Doctors and Family members whom assist their patients and loved ones from ending their sufferings.
I think many are acting out Malice against people whom dont share their personal religious sentiments, which is far Colder …. far less forgiveable than simple ignorance or delusion, … cloaking their evil hearts under the guise of ‘concern’ and religious piety.

This is the very antithesis of Christian Love.

Worst of all is that fact that many supposed ‘Orthodox’ Christians employ false doctrines … resorting to the time of Jewish Law, and Christs preaching to the Jews about being found worthy to enter his kingdom.
They attempt to say that a Christian risks loosing their eternal salvation if they choose Euthanasia…. Because they have failed to ‘endure unto the end’… etc.

This is a clear demonstration of mishandling the word of truth and results in a horrible in-humane doctrine which increases the un-necessary misery and human suffering in the world and when these false doctrines are used to Rally zealots into lobbying the government against Libertarian Law reform…. It causes unbelievers to despise Christianity as Barbaric and oppressive.
It causes Christianity to stink and makes a mockery of the Grace and compassion of God.
It Damns men’s souls via unbelief.

The Truth is quite different.
Under God’s Grace…. In this dispensation we are free from the Law, and salvation is absolutely a free gift…. Not determined at all upon our good works, endurance, etc.

So the Libertarian Christian (like me) does believe in the Sanctity of Human life, and intends to do what I believe is the Godly thing to do… with as much bravery as I an muster…to endure… and face my own fate (Following in the footsteps of my Heroic Grand Father) yet I confess that certain terminal conditions terrify me… and I reserve the right to chicken out and take matters into my own hands.

I know that such a decision would be to opt for the ‘weaker’ path for the Christian to take, yet I am confident of God’s grace and mercy.

I certainly don’t desire any legal prohibitions to prevent me having this option, and I would never be so cold and uncaring as to desire to prohibit others having the right to make this decision for themselves either… or loving parents making the painful decision that it is not in their child’s best interest to postpone the inevitable!

*This is a fundamental principle of Christian Libertarianism … That we are not the property of society… or the government…. We own ourselves… and it is up to us whether or not we will impose upon ourselves certain religious convictions regarding our own death.*
Parents must have their parental rights and responsibilities respected by the state.

Though I hate the false doctrines which try and ensnare fearful souls back under Law, and I have contempt for people whom seek to use the Law to unnecessarily prolong human suffering, I have no problem with people peacefully… and without recourse to political coercion propagating their belief that Euthanasia is wrong…. From forming associations which seek to propagate that belief… from boycotting Doctors whom are known to assist terminal patients to end their lives with dignity.
This is how Libertarianism works… Nobody *forcing* their opinions on others.

* The most important Political reality is that having legally assisted suicide (of itself)does not effect any third party’s rights…. And thus such prohibitions cant be justified*… I’m not saying there cant be any legal challenges Re: debts, and other contractual obligations)

When it comes to my loved ones, there is no way I would assist any of them to die, if they have still have the power of reason, yet have not receive the Gospel.
Death in that case will not end their suffering… it will be but the beginning.
Yet I would assist them if they are trusting in the Resurrection of Christ…. and even though…. perish the thought that many may so choose…. I would not seek a law to forbid people from arranging for their own death… or assisting their loved ones… even if they reject Christ.
God has given them the right to go to their deaths un-repentant, and in their own sins.

Christianity is properly a tolerant liberal faith…which seeks to make the world a better place via preaching the gospel and Christian values to whomsoever hath an open ear… not a Religion of Political force.
Christianity seeks to convert hearts and minds… not impose an artificial draconian order.

Man’s knowledge and powers of Medical intervention have made these sorts of Moral dilemmas far more acute as we understand a lot more about things like Opium, Diseases, and how to prolong life than in the past, and so a lot of the so-called ‘life’ many people ‘endure’ at the end is wholly due to the Un-natural interventions of Humanity… orchestrated in the name of ‘the Sanctity of human life’… ie this so-called ideal results in untold more *un-necessary and futile* misery.

*And it is to a large degree this *artificially engineered period of misery* which we are talking about here… as if Nature… and Human concerns were left to themselves… death would naturally end this misery a lot sooner.
Ie Medicine could concern itself more with ‘Mother Theresa…hospice care’ rather than Frankenstein type fanaticism…. Living Heads in a Jar… trying to steal a few last breaths… under delusions that this is honouring God.

And If I am ever undone…. laid out flat… writhing in agony … beyond repair… I hope my caregivers are not Frugal with the ‘Milk of the poppy’….
Fear not for me… My time will be done…. And my soul is secure in Christ.
Likewise all you whom have loved ones knocking on Heaven’s door… Tell them to trust their souls to the Gospel of Grace and the Resurrection of Christ… and to ‘relax’… accept death … in the faith and hope of God’s Love and promises.
That’s what I intend to do.

There ain’t no easy way

This September 20, vote Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party for Truth, Freedom and Justice!

To vote ALCP, you’ll need to make sure that you’re registered to vote. Are you on the electoral roll? Enrol, check or update now!

But, dear readers, I do appreciate that you may not want to vote for the ALCP. In fact, you may not want to vote at all. Not voting at all is certainly better than voting for any of the other parties on offer! (With the possible exception of the revivified ACT Party.) And not voting is your democratic right. At least, it is in New Zealand.

Across the ditch, voting is not a democratic right, it’s a democratic duty! That’s right, in Australia voting is compulsory. But compulsion is tyranny! The day that voting becomes compulsory in New Zealand is the day I never vote again. I hope that day never comes.

If you don’t want to vote at all, you don’t need to be on the electoral roll, right? So how do you get off of it? There ain’t no easy way.

70,000 voters removed from electoral roll

About 70,000 local election enrolment packs have bounced back to Registrars of Electors marked ‘gone no address’.

The Electoral Commission mailed update packs to the 3.1 million people on the electoral roll at the start of July, to make sure everyone who’s eligible is correctly enrolled to vote in this year’s local elections.

“If you are one of the 70,000 or so voters whose pack has come back to us because you’ve moved house and not updated your enrolment details, you have been removed from the electoral roll, and won’t be able to vote unless you re-enrol,” says Murray Wicks, National Manager, Enrolment Services.

So one way to remove yourself from the electoral roll is to intercept your election enrolment pack, tell a little white lie by marking it “gone no address” and send it back whence it came. But telling lies is bad, even little white ones.

Death is another option, but it’s a tad extreme. How do dead people get removed from the electoral roll, anyway? I’m not sure. Across the ditch, at least voters are provided with a means to remove a dead relative. But here? I couldn’t find anything on the Electoral Commission’s website.

It looks like moving house is the only other option. And then hoping that the new residents of your old home return your election enrolment pack marked “gone no address”. Instead of simply binning it. Which is what I’d probably do …

I suppose the reason that there’s no easy way to get off of the electoral roll is that it’s compulsory to be on it. But why? Why does the government need a list of all eligible voters? I.e., a list of all adult New Zealanders not already in prison? Isn’t that what the Census is for? Sinisterer and sinisterer …

A terrible number of words have been written about Breaking Bad, yet none have struck upon the irony at its core. For all of the cult hit’s vaunted fine-brush realism and sly cultural references, the show never even winked at the real world “blue” that grew up alongside it.

During the five years Heisenberg spent as a blue-meth cook, the nation experienced a nonfictional explosion in the manufacture and sale of sapphire pills and azure capsules containing amphetamine. This other “blue,” known by its trade names Adderall and Vyvanse, found its biggest market in classrooms like Walter White’s. As this blue speed is made and sold in anodyne corporate environments, the drama understandably focused on blue meth and its buyers, usually depicted as jittery tweakers picking at lesions and wearing rags on loan from the cannibal gangs of Cormac McCarthy’s The Road.

For presenting such a compelling one-sided cartoon of speed in America, Breaking Bad deserves recognition as a modern day Reefer Madness. That 1937 film immortalized the selective attentions of the first drug war, in which hysteria was stoked over Mexican marijuana but nothing was said about that era’s brisk drugstore trade in Benzedrine, the patented speed of the Great Depression.

To understand why the “edgy” AMC drama fits so snug in the Reefer Madness mold, it helps to see the show from the perspective of pharmaceutical executives, whom I suspect held some rowdy Breaking Bad viewing parties.

Because here’s the thing about hide-the-children caricatures of street speed and the class stigmas they weave: Without them, the needle starts to skip on pharma’s marketing lullabies about the safety and expanding therapeutic application of their purer product. Take away Goofus and Gallant-style contrasts between backwoods Crank Zombies and suburban Adderall Aspirationals, and suddenly we’re having some very awkward conversations about the periodic table, addiction, and the experience of getting high.

Aside from some foul cutting material, Winnebago methamphetamine and pharmaceutical amphetamine are kissing chemical cousins. The difference between them boils down to one methyl-group molecule that lets crank race a little faster across the blood-brain barrier and kick just a little harder. After that, meth breaks down fast into good old dextroamphetamine, the dominant salt in America’s leading ADHD drug and cram-study aid, Adderall…

The common thread of Drug Prohibition has been lies and Politicised Pseudo-science inciting a public Hysteria for the express purpose of justifying the State usurping tyrannical powers in complete disregard for Rights and liberties… in the name of ‘Safety and social order’.

I had to make up this Meme having herd that National is dropping the ACC levy of Cars registrations, which is always a positive thing.
Yet still they have not moved an iota on Motorcycle Levies… which are exorbitant.

This situation smacks of favouritism, and thus is typical Socialism in action.
The rationale appears to be that ‘Cars are Righteous, but Motorbikes are evil’.
Never mind the fact that a great % of Motor cycle injuries are caused by Cars, Trucks, tractors, and all the Shit they spread over the roads, and all the pot holes they create, etc, etc.
Frigging 4 wheeled freaks whom pull out of intersections without looking properly.
Bikers flying off the road avoiding Olde Muppets whom who are a danger to themselves and everyone else.
If I ever get that old and stupid… please take my keys off me!

Because on average I only get out on my bike about once a month, with insurance and registration, it costs me $100.00 per ride before I even turn the Key… before Gas, Tyres, Pies, Etc.
I pay over $50.00 per ride just for road rego!
It’s a Bloody Rip off!
I dont mind the Insurance so much, but greatly detest ACC, whom also take pleasure in raping me for the crime of being a self-employed Engineer.
I would much rather have all my taxes and Levies refunded which the Government extorts from me under the pretence of supplying me ‘a healthcare package’, and buy Private health insurance instead.

And true to Realecconomics… by driving up the cost of Bike registrations, the Rapist government have inadvertently encouraged people not to bother registering their bikes… and so the Government is actually collecting Less revenues!
They have created more outlaw bikers.
More bikers now choose to run the risk of riding unregistered bikes.
Bikers whom used to register more than one bike, instead keep some on hold.

Another way Bikers pay for the ignorance of politician Law makers is regarding the Speed limit.
Bikers are paying for naïve heavy handedness in blood.

I believe Motor cycles ought to be allowed to do 120kph on highways, because I say this would reduce many Cycle accidents which are caused by ridiculous speed restrictions and ‘Hazard County police’ who ‘write their own Rules’ and enforce a pitiful 4kph over speed margin… claiming this Hard line reduces the Road Toll.
Well it doesn’t!
This gimmick has been proven false.
The Road toll is not improved by this crap… all that happens is that the Cops collect more Speed Taxes.
Such patently absurd targets as ‘Zero deaths’ on holidays just goes to show what sort of Bullshit excuses are used to justify Raping us on our days off!
The only way you can expect zero Deaths is by having zero people using the roads!
On Labour weekend 2013 there was one death, the lowest number on record,and the police were quick to take the credit for this as being vindication for their Heavy handedness… despite a myriad of other factors being involved… esp less people than usual travelling, yet having employed this tactic over many more breaks, it has proven that this low result was an anomaly and that enforcing a lower speed limit was not a decisive strategy.

One reason I believe that such simplistic rational fails is because the Speed restrictions on Highways… and the Legions of Ticket issuers just waiting to pounce means that Bikers now avoid these Good roads where it is Safe to travel at speed, and instead Ride the Back roads which are inevitably poory maintained, poorly signed, and not designed for speed.
Plus they encounter far more rural hazards… Cattle, Tractors, Cyclists, etc.
And it is on these Back roads that Bikers are doing 120kph+.

Riding slow can be dangerous too because it is so friggin boring that you are in danger of falling asleep.
Some people may mock me for saying this …. but it’s true.
It’s like when you are at work, and sit down for afternoon smoko … you start to nod off and it’s hard to find the energy to Finnish off that last hours of your shift.
You become complacent and stop thinking… too relaxed… not focused.
This happens when you are not fully engaged in your riding… bored… in the afternoons and evenings.
Yet when you can get some speed on, your blood flows through your veins and your focus is sharper.

Thus I argue that these are the sort of reasons that Lower speed limits dont make the road a safer place, and these Laws actually work to make riding less safe.
The Highways are far safer to travel on big Cruisers, and as such I argue a more tolerant speed limit would greatly improve Riding Stats.
Everyone knows Bikers are already doing these speeds anyway.

A very good commentary appeared in this weeks Sunday Star Times which articulates many of my own opinions regarding Peter Dunne’s/ The National Party collapse and back pedal regarding the PSA and banning all Synthetic Cannabis products.

This was Election year shystery on an almost unprecedented scale in recent memory… to the degree that it absolutely caught me off guard… so resolute were all voices, on all sides that the PSA was working and that Banning things was not the solution.
I heard these words directly from horses in both Major party Stables only a few weeks ago at the Hamilton contingent of the Anti-legal high rallies.
I should not have been so naive… Of course absolutely nothing is safe… nothing is absolutely ‘not for sale’ on election year, and the sensationalist socialist conservative media was having a field day with this hot potato… the likes of TV3’s John Campbell was relishing playing ‘Moral Cleric’ and inciting a Jihad on Legal highs with the most un-objective and grubby media sensationalism.

Silly me.

Labour’s barrel scraping leader David Cunliffe spotting an opportunity to score political points against National shamelessly and without regard for Justice or the Social costs,… without a scrap of objectivity or scientific vindication decided it was in Labours political best interest to reneg on their support for Peter Dunnes PSA… and I am sure many of Labours and Nationals own MPs were just as surprised as me at the swiftness of this reversal and re-posturing…. and greatly embarrassed by it as they had only weeks ago argued that the PSA was working and that ‘Banning stuff’ doesn’t work!
(Yet I dont expect their embarrassment lasted long, and has been overcome by the political gains their party made via this shysterism)

I also know that for none of them… esp not Peter Dunne… was the underlying ideas of establishing Legal alternatives to alcohol the real ambition of the PSA.
It was always primarily a tool whereby Parliament could Ban substances produced in synthetic Drug labs as they appeared on the shelves, and Dunne and co were always actively encouraging the State health system, etc to file negative and highly subjective reports about Legal highs to be used by parliament as vindications for manufacturing new legislative prohibitions.
Add to this that PM John Key has vetoed the use of animals for testing the safety of legal highs… while still allowing it on other products… just goes to show how shystery and duplicitous this whole Mickey Mouse PSA ‘Due precess’ really is.

The world was very interested in the Psychoactive Substances Act, and was hailing it as an enlightened alternative to the failing and oppressive prohibitions and the war on drugs…. expecting New Zealand to be one of the first western nations to have clinically tested and relatively safe legal recreational alternatives to alcohol.
Well Dunne failed the drug test! and what is most sad about it is that not only will this cause suffering to the industry, jobs, etc, and suffering to Recreational drug users whom must now return to the illicit black market… the ripples with travel about the globe because the truth about how this attempt at establishing a legitimate/ Legal high market was torpedoed… by posturing spineless Politicians who put their own self-interest on an election year…ahead of justice and Social well being …will be buried, and instead the notion will be that ‘Synthetic cannabis was found to cause great social chaos in New Zealand’…. therefore attempts in other nations by reformers to mitigate the War on drugs and to set up a regulatory system which allows relatively safe alternatives to alcohol… like Synthetic cannabis will meet a strengthened Anti-drug resistance armed with the False Data from this outward looking New Zealand legislative failure.

I also think that this reversal has set back any hope of the legalisation of cannabis because these moves have Revitalised the Prohibitionists, whom were beginning to falter…. and so I shake my head and sigh that so many Activists who seek an end to the War on cannabis, had so little foresight, so little moral integrity as to buy into all the Anti-legal high hype, and jump onto the Prohibitionist wagon and join the throng calling to Ban synthetic cannabis.
Many did so wilfully refusing to apply their first hand knowledge about how prohibitions are fuelled by irrational exaggerations, un-objectivity, lies, and ignorant fears… ie “Reefer Madness”, etc.
They did so in pure hypocrisy, out of an unprincipled and devious belief that some how the more they incited terror against synthetic cannabis… and hyped up just how evil society imagined these products were… that somehow this would make cannabis appear much more ‘acceptable’.
I think they have mis-calculated badly…. even though in New Zealand we can expect the entire future conversation of the Cannabis reform movement to have shifted away from Cannabis use being a rightful liberty and being safer than alcohol, to now a call for an end to cannabis prohibition by primarily using this newly manufactured mania against synthetics… as a lever… as a threat…even though the perceived Dangers synthetics poses to the public is largely founded upon lies.
For me it is shameful to try and capitalise off the oppression of another unpopular minority for the sake of your own advantage.
I refuse to be party to it.

These events clearly demonstrate just how exposed life and liberty is to the Machiavellian whiles of Party Politics in New Zealand because we have no constitutional protection against power lusting Demagogues who put their own interests ahead of Rights, Liberties, Justice, and Social well-being.
We are utterly expose to the winds of Media manufactured terror.
The survival of PSA was a house of cards…. relying solely on the maintenance of the cross-party consensus as to its pragmatic value and Users and distributors were fed to the hounds as soon as one party blinked.

The ultimate travesty will be that inspite of Cunliffe/ Key systerism Re The PSA Labour will fail to get elected and so the rights and well being of the Users and distributors will have been sacrificed for nought!

And the collapse demonstrated just how full of unscrupulous Bastards our parliament is peopled with.
If we had a just Libertarian Constitution, virtually none of them could function.
All their Legal mumbo jumbo would be binned.
They would be like Evil witches with their wands taken away!

Ironically One party did maintain themselves and refused to back the new changes (passed though the house tonight).
The Greens.
They refused to be swayed, saying they believed the perceived dangers driving the prohibitions were exaggerations and that in reality the PSA had been working!
Is it a Blue Moon?
I find myself Saluting the Greens!

I dont know why I could not find this article on the net when there is what I thought was a full copy of this Sunday Star Times edition >>>Here<<<<... yet this opinion piece is strangely missing? I found this omission 'Odd'... yet I am no expert at these matters... what can be inferred from such omissions? Obviously not a Full E-copy. I am keen to discuss this article with readers and Reformers, and I think it is important that foreign researchers on this debate can gain reference from it as an independent commentary. An Eternal vigilance Salute goes out to Hamilton Activist Gary Chiles for organising the Norml J Day for the Waikato this Year.
It took place in the Hamilton Domain (Lake Stage) despite the fact that Hamilton City Council had tried to stop the event taking place on the basis that it violated their new ‘Smoke Free’ policy for public spaces.
Gary decided that he could not in good conscience allow such a pretext hinder his intention to rally Middle Earth Hobbits, wizards, and Ents for this annual protest against Cannabis prohibition.
It was peaceful Civil disobedience at it’s finest, Everyone was well behaved, and by the time I hopped back on my Triumph… gratefully… no one had seen any sight of the Police.

I had already asked Gary for a speaking spot in today’s program, before the Council decided not to grant permission for Norml to use this domain.

This ruling put Gary and people like myself who had already said they would participate in this day of peaceful protest against oppressive prohibition in a very difficult position and we had to make a moral decision to step up for the sake of the cause…. an act of peaceful civil disobedience.
I got up and spoke for 5 minutes.

I Attempted to motivate people into becoming active in the struggle to end Cannabis Prohibition.
As a Libertraian Independent, I asked for Hamilton Westies to give me their Candidate vote this election, and suggested they give their Party vote to ALCP because IMO they have Cannabis users best interests at heart.

The following is the script I had penned as a ruff guide to my speech… which I ended up ‘winging’ to a great extent…

Hi Everyone, my name it Tim Wikiriwhi and I am an Independent Libertarian whom is standing for parliament in the up and coming election, for the seat of Hamilton West.

I have been actively involved in activism for ending the war on drugs for over 15 years.
I used to smoke a lot of Pot in my younger days and was arrested and processed 3 times so I know first hand just how oppressive and unjust prohibition is, and how it generates social alienation.

There have been some amazing progress on this issue in the US and other places.
Recreational use of Cannabis has been legalized in some states , yet here in New Zealand The movement to End prohibition seems to be barely treading water.
Why is this?
Many reasons… the main one being complacency by kiwi smokers themselves.

Another reality that it is certainly much easier to get the Government to ban things than un-ban things.

Just look at how easily the Anti-Legal high prohibitionists were able to get unprecedented media coverage, while the Legalise pot movement gets almost Zero…. In spite of the war on Drugs being such an overwhelming failure and drain on our legal system.

In spite of many Global Big wigs…. Including Helen Clark sitting in High Office in the UN declaring the War On drugs causes much more social evils and injustice than drug use does!

When I look at the Shrill alarmism of all the Moms and grannies who turned up at Ban the Legal High rallies, and then read about the relief and joy they felt at hearing about the election year reversal on the PSA and Banning of all synthetic highs…. I marvell that they are happy that their young ones are again exposed to police brutality, and that Police can now Bust Their young adults for quietly smoking these substances…. They rejoice at the Idea that their young people will get Police records… etc.

Isn’t that Crazy?

To me this demonstrates not only how Bigoted phobias operate, but also a wilful ignorance of just how evil the War is that they are supporting… it’s a war on their own Kids, their friends and neighbors.

We need to challenge that ignorance… we need to expose just how unjust and tyrannical the war on drugs is.
If we can do that…. Then we will have the Moms and the Grannies marching in the streets…. Calling for and end to the war…. And the Media will grab hold of it…. And parliament will fold….
That is how the system works.

We have a lot of work to do changing the perception about just how nasty and wrong the War on drugs really is.

Yet that will only happen if you guys…. Pots smokers and Libertarians stop sulking…. Stop accepting all the slurs that the bigots heap upon you as being Dopey and lazy…. And claim the high moral ground which is rightfully yours!
Get up off your butts and agitate for change!
We need everyone to get serious and demand Liberation.
